This trek through suburbia starts at the south gate of the University of the West Indies St. Augustine campus. This is located along Watts Street at 10.63791°N and -61.39927°W. Proceed heading south along College Trace until the Churchill – Roosevelt Highway. You would cross the highway at 10.63632°N and -61.39917°W. There are no crossing lanes on this major highway so you would have to wait for the north-south green light for traffic. This would allow you to cross but look left because westbound traffic can turn left at that major junction and drivers in Trinidad & Tobago have no regard for pedestrians. This in addition to the horrible conditions of these “back roads,” the lack of sidewalks for most of the way, and the absence of manhole covers on sections where there is some kind of sidewalk.
Continue heading south along College Trace to the intersection with Orange Grove Road located at 10.63442°N and -61.39934°W. Turn left heading east along Orange Grove Road until Stratham Lodge Road at 10.63356°N and -61.39443°W. Turn left along Stratham Lodge Road until Orange Grove Trace at 10.63476°N and -61.39432°W. Continue heading east along Orange Grove Trace until Pasea Extension Road at 10.63451°N and -61.39085°W. Turn left and head north until the Churchill – Roosevelt Highway. It’s better to use the established pedestrian overpass located at 10.63754°N and -61.3896°W. Then continue heading north along Pasea Main Road.
You’d follow this road heading north until the Eastern Main Road at 10.64516°N and -61.39007°W but you’d have to cross the Priority Bus Route at 10.64411°N and -61.39011°W. Some of the “maxi taxi” drivers run the red light at this junction and it’s been the site of many fatal accidents, so ensure that the intersection is clear before crossing. Continue heading west along the Eastern Main Road until St. John’s Road at 10.64507°N and -61.39579°W. There are several “PH” taxis at the corner here that transport passengers along roads in the area and these guys do not appreciate photography, even if you’re not taking a picture of them so be aware.
Continue heading north along St. John’s Road until Warner Street at 10.64852°N and -61.39597°W. Turn left and follow Warner Street heading west until Gordon Street at 10.64873°N and -61.39745°W and then turn right heading north. Gordon Street will turn left heading west at 10.65158°N and -61.39757°W. Just follow along without veering off. You’ll walk past the University of the West Indies Open Campus at 10.65173°N and -61.39802°W and the Hugh Wooding Law School at 10.65223°N and -61.39954°W. You’ll walk past the Seismic Research Centre of the University of the West Indies at 10.65253°N and -61.40061°W. Gordon Street ends in Curepe at Riverside Road at 10.65155°N and -61.40948°W. Turn left along Riverside Road heading south and then left onto the Eastern Main Road at 10.65008°N and -61.40949°W. Continue walking east until the North Gate entrance for the University of the West Indies through the tunnel at Tunnel Drive at 10.64668°N and -61.40122°W. From here you would enter the University of the West Indies at St. Augustine and you can start doing loops around the campus. I followed University Drive heading west and then south past the Faculty of Science & Technology and the Faculty of Engineering. I continued along Lewis Avenue and then Sherlock Crescent to do two loops before returning to the starting point at the south gate.
Happy Trails.

I found that there are several challenges in this loop. These include the crazy amount of traffic everywhere, the reckless driving, lack of sidewalks along major sections of the walking trail, and open manholes. Besides this it was fine.

I did this trail and it was O.K. but the traffic was insane.
