Itinerary description
This hike will take you to the highest point of Jebel Jais / Jebel Bil Ays, which is at 1934 meters above sea level.
The hike begins at the Jebel Jais View Deck Park, which is accessible to hikers 24/7. From there, you'll take the upper segment trail towards the Ghaf Summit covering 4km.
After passing the Ghaf Summit, continue along the same trail (Highlander 2021) for another about 5 kilometres. You'll see His Highness the Sheikh's palace on the left and the Musandam mountains on the right. You may also see several border stones in the area, as the land is geographically divided into sections.
The final border stone is at an elevation of approximately 1892 meters, which is the true highest point in the UAE. However, we proceeded further to the actual peak of Jebel Jais at 1934 meters, which is located in Oman.
During our hike, the lowest temperature we recorded was about -2 degrees Celsius.
After reaching the summit, we returned through the same trail. The total distance of the hike is about 19km with an elevation gain of about 1100m (as measured by Garmin).
I have completed this summit multiple times via various routes by properly documenting waypoints and segments. This summit was also a part of my 100-kilometer long hike.
This time, it is recorded for just reference only and does not include any waypoint details. The trail path is visible for most of the hike, however you may find this Wikiloc link helpful for navigation.
Points to note:
- Mobile network is mostly available in the trail
- Hike starting point is accessible with sedan cars
- Trail is mostly exposed. Please be prepared accordingly
- Keep enough water / electrolytes, etc. according to the weather
- Please wear appropriate clothing in cold weather conditions
- All hikers are required to check in and check out the register log located in the security room of the deck park
- NO LITTERING PLEASE
Starting Point : Jebel Jais View Deck Park
