Itinerary description

It is a nice easy hike you can get to by public transport. The C tram, then the 21 bus.
From the bus stop follow the trail up the lane way. It soon turns into the trail.
We chose to go clockwise around the mountain to end at the fortress.
There are a number of crossing paths so it is easy to take the wrong one. So just double check the trail when you get to each crossing.
There is a nice view point at the opposite end of the mountain to the fortress. The path is then quite steep leading you upto the ridge.
It is a very nice walk along the ridge with views across Grenoble and to the mountains.
There are a few side paths you can take to explore the edge of the mountain more.
At the south end of the mountain are a few ruins from the Fort with another view point.
After that we took a steep path up to the fortress. The oath leads around the Fortress which let's you see it mostly.
We were very lucky the day we went as the ly were setting up for a festival so we could go inside the fortress area. But generally the gates will be shut. It is only open a few days a month for events.
After the fortress we made our way back down the way we came up and back to the bus stop.
