A beautiful trip on a beautiful warm day. We started by taking the S-Bahn S7 from the city center to Wannsee station, which every 30 minutes connects with bus 218 to Pfaueninsel. It is possible to take that bus all the way out, but it takes a long time - but with some interesting spots on the way.

The bus corresponds with the ferry over to Pfaueninsel (Peacock Island). It costs 4 euros (return) and takes only a minute or two. In the summer, it seems to depart every 20 minutes. Pfaueninsel is a beautiful place, and it's not difficult to spot peacocks along the way.

Back on the Wannsee peninsula, we walked along the Havel (part of the Mauerweg) down to Glienicke Schloss (castle) and Glienicker Brücke, also known as the "Bridge of Spies".

After crossing the bridge we were in Potsdam, the capital of Brandenburg. We walked through the park over the castle Cecilienhof, where the Potsdam conference after WW2 was held.

Then through the rest of the park, through Potsdam city - which is really worth a visit - down to the railway station.

Die Glienicker Brücke

Also known as the "Bridge of Spies" since it was much used for exchanging spies and prisoners between the east and west during the cold war.
