біля Aş Şalal, Ad Dakhiliyah (Sultanate of Oman)
We originally intended to hike hike Wadi Tanuf all the way up to the pools. It was impossible though on behalf of some ignorant European twats bereaving the locals with an attempt to reach the pools with a couple of big dogs (which was a pretty stupid thing to do given the status of this particural animal within Islamic societies as well as the fact that local kids and women frequently bath in these pools). As a result of this awkward incident the locals refused to let anybody pass their village and even threatened us with slinging rocks.
So we backed off and headed for the adjacent valley which has supposedly featured some pools as well. It turned out to be lucky decision as we finally reached this magnificent spot in the upper part of Wadi Tallah. So I guess it was really worth the effort in the end.
Note: The total elevation metres tally seems to be grossly exaggerated (blame poor GPS signal within the valley). The total count between 700 and 800 elevation metres would be more accurate I reckon.
