This short but interesting hike is in Eves Park, a hidden gem of the Cowichan Valley.
The network of trails in the park are in a pleasant second growth forest setting, with a bit of old growth thrown in. There is also a pleasant stream, a pond and a picnic area with pit toilets. The John Lawson Nature Centre has nature displays, books and hands on activities.
There is good interpretive signage along the trails. One celebrates the "Lenora Mt. Sicker" rail grade which in the 1910's brought copper ore down from Mt. Sicker to tidewater in Crofton. You will find a short section of the narrow gauge track nearby.
This is a "Class C" Provincial park, meaning that it's upkeep and funding is volunteer driven. You will find a donation box at the main gate.
The Retreads Hiking Club gives this hike an AVA rating of 2B.
